That Author Life - AN INTRODUCTION (1)

Yes, I'm using the same GIF I used for the intro in That Time We Broke the World. I, like Lizzy McGuire, am an outfit repeater.

OKAY. SO. WHAT IS THIS?

Good question (can you tell I just thought of this yesterday?). From the little mulling over I've done, I see this project as:

1. A documentation of my writing journey.

I love reading and watching about other people's writing. Vlogs, blog posts, tweets, pictures, you name it. I am here for it. I've always wanted to join in on the fun.

The thing is.Recording myself has proved to be a huge drain on my energy, both in the lead-up and aftermath. The same can be said for posting pictures. As a result? My camera stays in its bag. Someday, I would love to start a channel, have an active Instagram account, and connect more with the writing community. Have some fun. But, right now it's just not happening.

The other thing is. I've tried blogging/writing about my journey before. But, I have a tendency to set too-high expectations of myself while knowing full-well I'm setting myself up for failure. And then, when things fall through, I just sit there like:

(I was gonna put the Pikachu face, but, let's be real, I'm much more frazzled. Also, Tohru.)

So, instead of continuing to force myself into a system that has literally never worked, I'm changing course. I'm going to post about my non-Wattpad projects here, rather than waiting to get my website back up or trying to find the motivation to make a video or post the Perfect Picture. I'll span out to those when (or if) I'm ready.

2. A documentation of my business journey.

I haven't talked about this much on here, but I'm building a career as an indie creative. This includes becoming an indie author. Creative freedom is incredibly important to me, and I've always loved the idea of building something from the ground up. For the longest time, I've been deep down the research hole, learning about business and publishing and marketing and all that jazz. It's all so exciting. Overwhelming, for sure, but exciting.

Since my confidence level is -20, I still feel like I don't know anything about anything. But, as I delve deeper into the indie publishing realm, I'll check-in here!

3. A life design guide (for me, not you—sorry).

Documenting things like this will show me what's working in my life and what isn't. I get so caught up in trying other people's routines and what-have-yous that I always feel scrambled and aimless. I'll use the information in this to navigate life and business in a way that will work for me.

4. A lifestyle blog?

Learning new things about myself and how I work has always been fascinating to me. I have read so many personal growth books, hahaha. And because designing a sustainable/enjoyable lifestyle is important to me, posts about my past, present, and future will undoubtedly find its way here.

5. A place to connect with you guys.

I've been distant from the Wattpad community lately, and I want that to change. Along with the posts you may be able to relate to, the comment section will serve as a place where we can chat about anything and everything!

ORGANIZATION

Like a blog has tags, I'll be sorting posts by topics. Because of this, the newest post may not be the latest "chapter." I'll always link in any post announcements. I'll also make sure to have the latest post listed on my bio.

There won't be any set day that I post, because I've tried that over and over again, and all it's done is put a large amount of pressure and subsequent guilt when I don't deliver.

TRIGGER WARNINGS

The following topics/themes are foreseen to come up. More will be added if needed. I'll also add any trigger warnings on the specific posts.

• Stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD

• High sensitivity personality

• Emotional/physical abuse

• Goals, deadlines, productivity

THAT ABOUT WRAPS IT UP.

I'm so excited to see where this takes me, and to have some documented memories to look back on. That being said, let's get this party started! (:
